John Halsey
Agency Owner
I have been a Macomb County resident for most of my life. I grew up in Shelby Township and graduated from Eisenhower High School. I stayed local for most of my college life and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oakland University in 1989 with a major in Secondary Education. After a five year teaching career, I moved on to a career in the automotive industry at Ford Motor Company. After nearly thirteen years at Ford (Van Dyke Plant in Sterling Heights), I left in 2006 to pursue a career in the insurance industry I am deeply rooted in our community and church (Bethel Church of the Nazarene) and have taught Sunday School since 1999.
I have been a member of the Macomb Township Fire Corps since November 2007, and have enjoyed many opportunities to educate local children on the importance of fire safety. As a member of the Local Business Network and the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce, I have met many other business owners and have been seeking opportunities to help them increase their business.
My wife Lisa and I were married in 1990 and have three wonderful children in the Chippewa Valley school district. Julie is a senior in high school, and both John (eighth grade) and Cari (sixth grade) are in middle school. They each are in different athletic activities that we take great pleasure in supporting.
Anyone who has visited my office knows of my passion for NASCAR and cars in general. I have an extensive toy car collection and love attending classic car shows throughout the year. I also have a great fondness for music and sports. I would enjoy the opportunity to get to know you and show you ways to protect your prized possessions, lifestyle, and the people that you love.

John and I have been married for nearly 19 years. As a stay-at-home mom while my kids were younger, I can appreciate the challenges faced in that situation. However, as a business owner, now I can also see the “juggling act” required to balance family and work obligations!
I love being involved within our local community as well. I grew up in Romeo and sometimes miss the “small-town” feel I enjoyed as a kid. So I do all that I can to help Macomb Township, where we live, work and our kids attend school in, to develop a ‘close-knit’ feeling filled with family fun and traditions.
My contributions include being a children’s church educator for the past 11 years at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, becoming a Fire Corp member where I assist Sgt. Dwayne Thompson in educating students on the importance of fire safety, Chamber of Commerce Member, sponsor for many of the Macomb Township Parks and Recreation community events, Chippewa Valley Coalition for Youth & Family member, where we actively seek to educate students and parents on the devastating long-term effects of under-age drinking, Chippewa Valley Girls Softball sponsor for the 2009 Warriors and most recently, became a committee member for My Friend’s Care Cancer Fund.
As a trusted member in our community, I would enjoy the opportunity to meet with you and see if we are able to help your family understand the importance of being properly insured and the importance of protecting your family and what you’ve worked so hard for.

I am a licensed sales agent for Allstate at the Halsey Agency and have been helping people with their insurance needs for over 9 years. I think what I enjoy most about the position is meeting new people, getting to know them and their needs and then helping them to get the right insurance coverage at the right price. When I know my clients are well-covered and feeling good about their insurance protection, I really do get a great deal of satisfaction. It’s what I’m here for and my clients can rest assured that they are in “good hands”. My clients also become part of my community network and it’s wonderful to get referrals that confirm that my clients have really appreciated their service experience.
After business school, I wasn’t sure which career direction I would pursue. An opportunity in insurance was presented to me and I’ve been on that path ever since and enjoying it all the while. I keep my skills and knowledge honed through continuing education each year so my clients can feel assured that they are dealing with an insurance professional who will well serve their interests.
Family is very important to me. I grew up on the East side in a very large family. My husband Doug and I have been married for over 18 years and we have two children; Ryan who is 15 and Emily who is 11. We keep very busy with their school and athletic activities. My son plays many sports including ice hockey, and my daughter enjoys softball. Besides keeping us busy, my husband and I get a lot of pleasure out of watching our children grow and develop through their sports and activities. I also like staying active and enjoy running in particular.
Building our life in Macomb Township has been wonderful. We’ve lived here for 9 years and I feel that we’re part of a tight-knit community that’s great to live and work in. It’s great to have friends turn into clients and to have clients turn into friends. Please consider giving me a call to discuss your insurance needs – I’d love the opportunity to get to know you too and provide the all-important insurance guidance that can leave you feeling assured that your life and loved ones are protected.
